Party In The Park 2012

Last Sunday we had the amazing opportunity to go backstage at Party In The Park 2012 and what a day it was! The weather was beautiful and all the artists were amazing. This year's lineup saw boyband One Direction headline the event at Temple Newsam in Leeds. Other acts included Professor Green, Tulisa, Wretch 32, Conor Maynard, Stooshe, Alexandra Burke, Cover Drive, Little Mix and Labrinth. There were no big gaps between performances, the crowd was constantly entertained and excited.

70,000 people partied on the day, all for FREE! Everyone was dancing and singing, banners were everywhere, it really was one big party. The concert was joint organised by Leeds City Council and Radio Aire. With St Johns Ambulance nearby for any casualties, food facilities and good crowd control, the concert couldn't have run any smoother. Although the crowd was of big size, the front was sectioned off so there wasn't a big crowded area resulting in people being crushed.

The acts were amongst some of the hottest artists set to storm the charts in 2012 and beyond. With Conor Maynard, Stooshe and Little Mix all set to release their debut albums this year, party in the park had the perfect lineup. Whether you have a boyband fetish, or prefer listening to rappers, there was something for everyone.

Our favourite acts had to be Labrinth and Professor green, they were fab! Labrinth even came down to the press area for an exclusive acoustic performance- right out of the blue! Unfortunately we were watching one direction performing at this point but the lovely girls from Aurora photography managed to video it. You can see that here. The highlight of our day was when Wretch 32 recognized us from a few weeks ago, when we watched a gig he performed at in the press area. We fangirled so much! Haha.

All of the performers seemed to really enjoy the day, the sun was shining, there was an amazing crowd and some of them even had their mates performing with them. Take the cutest couple around, Perrie Edwards and Zayn Malik- they both performed! Little Mix also had X Factor mentor Tulisa performing after them. Tulisa was sporting her new blonde locks, which we LOVE by the way. She looked beautiful, despite the fact that she mentioned she had been partying with bad boys one direction until 6 am that morning!

Alexandra Burke was also sporting new blonde ombre'd locks at the festival. Check out the photo of her below, what are you guys thoughts? Personally we think she can pull anything off.

Overall, PITP was a huge success and one of the best events we have been too. Although we go to a lot of concerts and events, PITP has been our highlight for the past two years running. The concert really is priceless, it gives people the opportunity to experience what a festival is like without incurring the enormous costs that usually go along with festivals. PITP also allows you to bring your own picnic and drinks (but make sure you read the up to date rules on Radio Aires website). If you ever get the chance to go, do it, you will not regret it! The perfect family day out/the perfect summer celebration with friends, you decide.

Here are a few of our favourite photographs from the day. You can see all the photos we took on our facebook here.

A big thank you to Leeds City Council and Radio Aire who made such an amazing event possible and safe. We hope that everyone who went to the event enjoyed it as much as we did and we can't wait to see who's there next year! :)
